TOI
text and direction Pascal Rambert
with Marisa Borini and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi
For many years I wanted to work with Valéria Bruni-Tedeschi. When she was in Nanterre at Patrice Chéreau's school I was in Chaillot at Antoine Vitez's school. I saw her from afar. I wanted to work with her. And then once in Chéreau's Rêve d'automne at the Théâtre de la Ville. It was clear that I wanted to work with her. And then in fact his films too. All his films. And the last one seen on a plane coming back from Mexico made me tell myself she's like a sister for the stories she writes and I write. So we saw each other and we decided to do this. I'm going to write a declaration of love from a daughter to her mother. Her mother is her real mother. Marisa Borini. She is the one who plays the piano on a large Bosendorfer between the silences of her daughter. Words are meant for her. And Valeria gives life to thoses words.
